Matador in the 6.5 styling...

Рекомендуемые сообщения

I received my Matador about a week ago and started tuning it to shoot

JSB Kings.... My .25 EDgun shot JSB King 25.4gr a 328.6ms out of the

box so it is plenty capable of much heavier pellets. I now have it

shooting at 278.9 with an 2.5ms Extreme Spread and a 0.68ms Standard Deviation....

Here is the 59.4 meter target I was shooting at today while running a chrony string

And these are the test targets @ 73.15 meters..... I am very pleased with this gun..

Well, it was not to be today..... I am trying several different holds to try to

stay on target through the firing cycle but I guess I have just not shot the

gun enough YET...

Well done!

JSB Kings are very precise, but too light for such a mighty airgun as Matador .25

Currently I'm using 2.33gr Korean pellets (Eun Jin) with my rifle, but they cannot give such an accuracy as Kings.

Maybe, the new heavy .25 Daystate pellets (RangeMaster TwentyFive, 2.33 grams) could be solution of this problem - to achieve the best combination of power and accuracy.

I'm trying to order them from www.airgunsofarizona from time to time, but they are constantly out of stock.

\\

If you'll see that pellets somewhere in any American online shop - please let me know... I'll try them on EDgun and will write a report here.

Thank you zzzr... Yes the King pellet is too light... I did not hear about the Daystate pellet before...

I will search for this one.... It would be nice to have the gun shooting at full potential

with accurate heavy pellets... I think Ed was visiting with JSB so maybe he will discuss

a heavier pellet for them to make..... I am sending an email to AOA now... I will contact

you when I am finding a reply of information....

Thanks!

I'll order them to compare their accuracy and penetrating ability with Eun Jins, Kings and Sam Yangs...

Don't expect too much from them. I have tried them in several of my cal.25 rifles and they do not deliver to my expectations. Even Daystate's own AirRanger 80 (ft/lbs) does not like them....

Best I've found so far is H&N Barracudas 31 grs.....

Good Luck !!!

Wow... I have found that the Matador .25 does not like the H&N Barracudas.... I am finding more accuracy with JSB Kings @ 279 m/s with the Matador.

The Matador is capable of speeds of 327.66 m/s with the JSB Kings. That is just an unmanageable speed for me...

zocoloco, how fast are you shooting the barracudas?

zocoloco, how fast are you shooting the barracudas?

Firstly, I have not really had the opportunity to test the JSB Kings a lot, but I hear they are good and in many instances they group better than the Barras in cal.25 (6.35 mm).

Secondly, I have not had the pleasure of shooting the Matador yet, but I hope that will change soon.... :smex:

I have three cal. 25 guns: The Daystate AR80 ft/lbs, A Theoben Rapid MK II, and a custom Daystate Huntsman... The latter is the most accurate of the three, but unfortunately I dont have pictures. The Daysstate AirRanger 80 is a laugh. It spits out Barracudas at 320 m/s (1050 ft/sec) but you cannot hit a barn door at 100 mts (330 feet). In fact you would be lucky to hit the barn itself.....

The Barras dont seem to handle those speeds very well. That said, The DS AR80 has an unchoked rather unusual barrel and the barrel does not help much at all.

My Theoben Rapid with a LW match barrel delivers some 240/245 m/s (approx 800 ft/sec) and at that speed the Barras perform quite well in the Theoben.

Below are a couple of images.....

The first one is four 5 shot groups from the Theoben Rapid at 40 mts. Speaks for itself. Rather gusty conditions too.....

At 50 mts the groups (six shot groups) open up quite a bit, - but that may be just as much because I am a lousy shooter.......... :smex:

My conclusion is that Barras are at their best around 250 m/s. A conclusion I know many would agree to.........

But every rifle is different..........

Very nice rifles you have.... .... Yes you are right, seems every rifle wants to shoot the same pellets differently... those are nice groups... I have not tried Barracudas at the slower speeds so maybe I am missing out on some accuracy by trying to still shoot them too fast....

Shooting at velocities too high is a very common mistake. Lots of people would go for the added kill power offered by high velocities, - but then frequently miss their target.......

That said, the supply and choice of pellets in the cal.25 format is not a big one, - compared with cal. 22. It seems to me that less research may have gone into producing the ultimate cal.25 pellet simply because the demand is nothing like cal .22 (or .177 for that matter). The new JSB kings may have changed that.

In my experience the new Daystate Rangemasters did not........ :priv:

I expect JSB making a new heavy pellets for .25 also. They are working now for 1 gram pellets for .177 and that could be very interesting as well. And I expect new classic shape gun we are about to finish to shoot 35 grain EunJin very well due to the barrel fixing policy :smex:

That is very interesting Eduard.... Do you have the weight for the new .25cal pellet that JSB is working on?....

I am very prepared now for adjusting the .25 for heavier pellets if the new JSB is going into production.....

I am very happy for the performance of the .25... It is shooting as well as the .22 for now....

1 gram for .177 is a very heavy pellet... That will be interesting...

What is the new barrel that the classic shape gun will use?

Is this the classic gun you are working on?

That is the old one, which is about 7 years old, not we are working on new one, which looks more up-to-date, looks like modern sniper's rifles. Hope will be able to show it in September. I, personally, like the design and to my oppinion it is much more interesting then that one on the picture you show :smex:
